One question I often get as the author of thousands of blog posts is, “How to find content ideas?”
I’ve had a few bouts of writer’s block, but coming up with ideas has never been a challenge for me. You’ll get a flurry of future post ideas if you pay attention to the world around you and listen to people.
There are also methods and tricks that can assist you in generating many more ideas.
I wanted to make a comprehensive list of ways to generate content ideas. These techniques may be used to produce a blog post, an e-book, a podcast, or something else.
Before we get started, there’s one caveat to consider.
Questioning is a great way to come up with content ideas.
It’s best to be in a problem-solving mindset before attempting to come up with content ideas. You’re attempting to solve issues and answer questions about your business that your target readers have.
In other words, you’re on the lookout for inquiries. It may be questions people ask aloud, things they look for, or just things they think about. I’m a golfer, and one of the most common questions I get is, “How do I grip a golf club?”
When an inexperienced golfer comes across a title like How the Best Golf Pros Grip the Club, they must press. It makes no difference whether it’s on a search engine, on social media, in an email, or somewhere else. The title provides a response to a query and encourages the reader to click.
So begin by thinking about how your content and titles can answer questions.

General Discussion Forums (Quora)
Quora is one of my first stops when I’m looking for ideas for names. It’s a big discussion board where people can ask questions about everything. Simply type in the subject your readers are interested in or the name of your industry to begin seeking questions to convert into material.

Industry-Specific Forums (Forums for The Readers)
In the world of the Internet, forums are a little out of date, but they’re still popular. They are one of the most straightforward ways for people to converse with others online in the same manner they do in person. People exchange information, ask and answer questions, and do a variety of other things.
There are general forums, such as Quora, as well as forums dedicated to almost every business and niche.
Check for [your industry] forum on Google, and you’ll almost certainly find at least one, if not a dozen.
Online Communities (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Like niche sites, social media communities exist. People talk about their professions, hobbies, and favorite subjects. Look for communities that don’t encourage a lot of exchanging of posts. The majority of these are spam. Look for communities that have a lot of questions and answers in your business.
Common Titles and Subjects in Business Publications
Find the pages in your industry that publish the most up-to-date content, events, tips, and everything else your followers are interested in. Check for posts with the most feedback, such as tweets, shares, and opinions.
You’ll get a sense of what’s famous and what’s trending. Create material on certain subjects, attempting to either include a unique perspective or draw on what has already been explored.
Comment Sections in Industry Publications
Posts can be found on business journal websites. The people who leave feedback are your intended readers, so pay attention to what they have to say. Since authors do not, and cannot, cover any aspect of a subject in a single post, readers will sometimes pose questions. Look for those questions and answer them with your own content.
People You Follow on Social Media
Make a list of the people who will be potential readers for your book. This is usually a list of the best or desirable clients. Keep an eye on them and the material they interact with. Look at what they’ve shared, responded to, and so on. Such are some of the issues you might write about in your content.

Sharing the content you make (and the best content you can discover) that your target audience would find fascinating and useful is a basic social media tactic. You’ll gain a following if you do a decent job at it.
And if you only have a few followers, you can ask them questions like: What is your greatest job challenge?

It took me a long time to consider using hashtags in my social media messages, and it took me even longer to start following hashtags.
Your dream fans aren’t necessarily going to support you. It’s just the way things are. However, common industry hashtags will also help you find them.

Determine who the industry’s influencers are. Add them to a Twitter list or watch them on Twitter. Examine how individuals communicate with others in positions of power.
People often ask influencers questions; but, since influencers are busy, they may not be able to answer to all of them.

SlideShare is a kind of online content that exists under its own category. It’s a massively successful platform with slide decks for about every industry imaginable. Find the most common decks by searching for your industry. Develop content that expands on the current topics or offers your own special perspective.
Industry Videos on YouTube
YouTube will provide you with ideas in a variety of ways. Finding the most common videos from your industry, which may be how-to videos, trend videos, news videos, or whatever, is the best method. Then look at people who have a lot of viewpoints, tweets, and other forms of interaction, and you’ll know the topics to concentrate on for your content.
Instagram Messages and Feeds
I’ve been following online business influencers, and the feedback they get will contribute to content gold. Influencers, once again, do not have time to react to any question. This is where you can help. Influencers on Instagram, for whatever reason, get a lot of feedback.
Make friends of fascinating people. I want to believe that everybody has something special to say about something. And if they’re only sharing their own personal thoughts, it may serve as fuel for a blog post. But go ahead and interview somebody. Contact them in person, by phone, or by email. Pose a few questions to them.
Use the conversation as a source of inspiration. You might even use the interview as a piece of material, just make sure you have permission first.
A roundup can be a wonderful post in and of itself. Give your consumers ten awesome pieces of content to consume. Furthermore, simply looking through the material will inspire you.
You should look at what people are interested in and then create your own content.
This is similar to the external roundups mentioned above, but you’ll be looking at your own files to see what you’ve completed with specific groups or tags.
If you have any doubts about what your consumers require? Inquire about their problems. Inquire around three business issues they’re dealing with. Inquire on what subjects they’d like to learn more about. Don’t do so many polls. Even asking a few consumers a single question will generate a lot of material inspiration and ideas.
Comment Sections on Your Website
You can get brilliant ideas from your own comment sections, just as you can from the comment sections on other websites. You will use reader feedback to generate new content whether they ask questions or inform you what you might have added.

Many websites have FAQ pages because they get regular requests and want to give responses to travellers and potential clients. Examine your FAQ section and see if there are any subjects that could be expanded upon with another type of material, such as a video, a blog post, an e-book, or a guide.

Examine the FAQ pages on the blogs of the rivals. Check in on a regular basis to see what questions they’re having to make sure you’re responding with content.

Look at the bottom of search results pages for similar searches that will help you figure out what you can cover with your material.
What are the hot topics in your field? It doesn’t have to be a life or death situation, but pick a hot subject and start a discussion about it. Choose a side and create a piece of content around it.
If you want to be included in stories, Help A Report Out is a fantastic place to start. You should also subscribe to see what’s trending in different industries. If you see patterns, it’s likely that you’ll be debating the subject as well.
I make an effort to subscribe to at least a few business newsletters. I keep the ones that are healthy and replace the ones that aren’t. What I look at are the subjects being debated, and sometimes I get ideas for something I can create that will be important to my target customers.
One thing to keep in mind: you’re looking at e-newsletters that your clients have signed up for.
Set up reminders for those topics that are relevant to your customers. Take a look at what’s been written recently. Look for knowledge holes and fill them with new material.
Make use of the information you already have about your business and clients. It might be a list of data you’ve learned for your clients or an old research study your team completed.
When you have a huge amount of data, you can tell your customers things like, “75% of our customers use X tool for analytics.” It’s anonymous, so it’s helpful to clients and prospects.
Utilize data from the market. I try to keep up with sites like Nielsen, Emarketer, and others to see what the most recent surveys in different sectors are revealing. I may provide input on the results in order to produce material.
Experiments aren’t strictly for science classes any more. Experiment in your job to see what happens. You could transform the experiment into a piece of content or use it as inspiration for something new you could make for your clients.

On Amazon, look up a list of the best books in your field. People who purchase a book about a subject are likely to be interested in a fantastic blog post, guide, or podcast about the same topic.

What do you think the future holds for your industry? Dream about it for twenty minutes. Divide it into various categories, and you’ll have a few marketing suggestions to deal with. People are often on the lookout for details that will assist them in planning for the future.

Buffer is one of my favorite tools. I set aside one day a week to add a week’s worth of social media posts to my Buffer, and then I add updates as needed.
Per week, though, I take a look back at the most successful updates. I will see what my fans are interested in and create new content around those subjects.
Flipboard helps users to curate a wide variety of content. Look for influencers in your field to see what they’re talking about. This are your cues to the subjects that matter to your readers and that you can cover.
I’ve long been a fan of psychology. I enjoyed used research as evidence or to support an argument.
Studies on a wide variety of subjects can be seen in popular psychology blogs, magazines, and other media. A analysis can be used to launch whole content objects. You may also compile research about a certain subject to create a convincing piece of material.

A Simple photo can be a source of inspiration. A photograph will also elicit an idea. Flickr is my favorite, but Facebook galleries can also be useful.
Business Executives and Leaders
Business executives nearly all rise to the top and they understand how to manage a business and what matters to clients in their market. Speak with the executives and experts you encounter in your industry. Invite them to lunch to talk about what’s going on in the industry. The thoughts will start to circulate.

FAQ pages on competitor websites, as I discussed earlier, are a good source of questions to answer. Examine the competitor’s entire website as well. Going through this method will provide inspiration for unanswered questions.
Old Industry Advertising
Look for old advertisements in your business or on the internet for old advertisements in your industry. They probably sold products differently decades ago than they do now, which may contribute to material inspiration. Alternatively, you might collect ten amusing commercials that would pique your customers’ interest.

Take a look at those old business manuals. Back then, they tended to do a lot more with drawings and descriptions. It wasn’t just email, though. Those guides may also provide inspiration.
Proverbs and Popular Quotations
People like reading quotes. They’re in our email signatures and on the walls of our offices. Look for fresh quotations to inspire you in general, and you’ll frequently find material inspiration.
Is there a well-known hypothesis in your field? Perhaps it’s an age-old law that everybody adheres to. Try to come up with a different rule that is stronger than what anyone else has been doing for decades.
Alternatively, find a well-known scientific theorem, such as the law of gravity, and apply it to your business.

Knowledge bases provide a wealth of useful material. They’re frequently forums, but they can also be collections of how-to posts. The posts will have material suggestions, but if there is already a blog, you can see what questions people are having that aren’t answered in the information base. After that, you’ll be able to get the answers.

When sharing the business and services with consumers, do use the language they use.

Let’s pretend that everybody is praising the advantages of commuting to work each day. It seems self-evident that it is advantageous, but what if the opposite is true? Perhaps walking to work every day isn’t the healthiest choice. A bicycle may be preferable. Examine some popular behaviours and see if you can debunk some of them.
Have a look at something the clients think that they shouldn’t. This type of content may be beneficial, so be sure to come equipped with analysis and illustrations.
Games will teach you valuable lessons that will last a lifetime. A game of Monopoly or Life may provide some inspiration.
Another field where important lessons can be learned is sports. Sporting activities tell you a lot about life. In my situation, I’ve written blog posts about golfing skills I’ve learned.
When your mind is fixed on the moment, you will conceive about new ideas that you hadn’t seen before. This will contribute to creativity.
Set a Personal Goal for Yourself
What is something you’ve wanted to do for a long time? Make a conscious effort to do so right now. For a piece of material, record the experience.
Things that alter your life will have excellent content. People enjoy hearing motivational tales. And if anything, bad happens, sharing your experience will encourage people who are going through the same thing.
It doesn’t have to be for you, though. It might be something you’ve heard or something you’ve seen with a friend.
Your Own Testimonials
Find a tool you’ve just used or one you’ve used for a long time. Make a review of it. If at all practicable, keep your attention on your clients. If the topics you’ve checked aren’t going to help them, find one that can and share your opinions.
I’m sure you’ll agree with me on this one. When I was on holiday, some of the best blog post suggestions came to me. Being in a different environment will inspire you. And when your brain is rested, you will be able to think more clearly than when you are still occupied with work.
Fiction, in some form, has the potential to inspire. Fiction discusses the universal concepts we encounter in life, and you will find a common theme that influences someone in almost any piece of material.
Give Strangers Fake Backgrounds and Stories
This was something I saw on a TV show a few years ago. A screenwriter appeared on the show. He said that he studied people in public places and developed fictional histories for them. When he saw a couple, he imagined how they met and what they did for a living.
This way of thinking about people teaches the brain to learn in different ways, and will make you produce better content.
Pets are strange, funny, and interesting creatures that don’t mind if you watch them. Keep an eye on your pet’s actions. This will contribute to creativity. Going on a stroll with your pet or throwing a ball for them increases brain function as well.
Animals of the wild are fascinating beings. Flies, a couple of coyotes in a field, and even fish swimming around will all motivate the mind in different ways.
Lessons learned from your parents, family, and friends during your life will contribute to fantastic content. We enjoy hearing about the wisdom that our elders have imparted to us and others.
There are statements that are so normal that we tell them without questioning whether or not they are valid. Remember some of the famous sayings you’ve learned to see how you can come up with a counter-argument.
Sketching will make you remember details better. Your mind can drift while you’re trying to come up with a subject to write about. Sketching will help you come up with a brilliant idea for your new content by focusing your mind just enough. Different parts of the brain are also stimulated by the operation.
You might also use the drawing as the material itself.
Dialogues in a Film
Rounders is one of my favorite movies. The dialogue in that film is fantastic. The main character claims that every year, the same five people make it to the final table of the World Series of Poker. They aren’t that fortunate. They’re the best, and they put in a lot of effort to get there.
Hearing that can inspire you to write content about hard work or dominating your niche.
Take a look at movies for ideas. Pay attention to the topics brought up by the actors.
Lyrics to Songs
Everyone is influenced by music. Artists write songs about all of life’s thoughts and circumstances. Listen to music for a bit if you’re having trouble brainstorming. If you get lost in the lyrics, you could come across a theme for a piece of material.
What is your favorite pastime?
Golf is my favourite pastime. Conversations with fellow golfers, circumstances I find myself in, and things that challenge me are all points of motivation for me. You will find creativity that contributes to new insights as you venture outside of your usual work areas.
Friends and Family
Your strongest support net is your family and friends. If you’re having trouble with something, simply ask them for their opinion. Check to see if they have any concerns. They want you to excel, and they’ll gladly help you retrain your brain. They will assist you in seeing it from a different perspective, which will result in improved content.
Take a walk outside
Writer’s block will make you unhappy. It’s impossible to create quality material when you’re in a poor mood. Get outdoors and take a stroll.
